Personal intimacies make a photo

For me this photo symbolizes my life in Paris, but for almost every single other person looking at it, it’s just a window. I watched the light rise and fall each day from this window. I stood on the chair below it every time I went to open or close it, because I’m only 5 foot 4 inches. I can still remember the sound of latch going into place.

The mug on the table I purchased from a porcelain store across the street from my apartment (rue de paradis is known for it’s crystal and porcelain stores), the sales lady was from Los Angeles and we had such a heart warming conversation about our experiences with studying abroad and creating a new life in a new place.

The title exemplifies one of my favorite aspects of an individual’s photo, which is learning about their experiences and their personality from what they choose as important enough to capture.
